A new week, sadly doesn’t erase the atrocious scenes that we have all seen in the news over the weekend.
I cannot even begin to comprehend how those poor people must have felt, caught up in the barbaric attacks in Paris.
My heart goes out to all of the families and friends who have lost loved ones.
My son, only 5, was playing with his cars when the news was on. He stopped what he was doing and came over to watch the news.
I immediately turned it over.
His eyes, too innocent.
His mind, too precious.
His heart, too full.
Am I right to shield him from such hatred and violence?
Should I allow him to grow up in a make believe world? A world that doesn’t exist?
For now, yes.
I will protect his eyes, his mind and his heart.
I saw this quote on the lovely PottyMouthedMummy‘s Instagram:
There will be a day, however soon or however far away, when I won’t be able to protect my children.
But for now, baddies are only in films.
But for always, I will try my upmost to keep you safe.
