Sweet Treats that lose the lbs, not gain them

Want to lose weight?

But you like sweet foods too much?

Hmm … me too!

It’s tricky isn’t it.

Being on a diet can be so hard mainly because you are leaving out the foods that taste good, that you love, that made you want/need to lose weight in the first place.

For me, it’s always the sweet stuff that I miss when I’m being good.

I curse that sweet tooth of mine!

So when I was asked by Exante Diet to try out some of their sweet treats, they didn’t even have to wait for a reply.

Sweet treats that allow you to lose weight … hello!

I was sent some shakes, nutrition bars and some puddings, all of which I will share with you.

First up and my absolute favourite were the Shakes.

I have always liked milkshakes or should I say diet shakes, as a controlled part of weight loss.

Exante Diet say that their shakes “are specifically formulated for healthy weight loss, or can be used to maintain your weight as part of an intermittent or 5:2 diet plan.”

As a meal replacement, I found the Exante shakes to be exactly what I was looking for: taste delicious and fill me up.

I was sent the Banana and the Strawberry flavours.

You simply have to mix the powder with 200ml of cold water.

To be honest, I wasn’t sure how the shakes would be mixed with water, I thought it would be very thin and not very milkshake like!

But I was really surprised that the texture and thickness was not hugely compromised which is a great bonus.

The banana shake was very sweet, I actually added a little more water to see if the taste was affected but it wasn’t at all, it just made the drink go further.

I also tried the Strawberry flavour.

I used a blender to mix the shake.

It is also great for if you are on the move, I found that it transported well and like anything cold, it wasn’t as nice as the drink warms up so enjoy it while it’s still chilled.

This flavour was absolutely amazing!

Do you remember the treat of having Angel Delight for pudding, when you were little?

Oh my goodness, it is my favourite childhood taste.

Imagine how amazed I was that this wonderful little packet of powder is mixed to make the most amazing, Angel Delight Strawberry drink.

The shakes are high in protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals. And they taste fab so win win!

I also tried some of the crisp and nutrition bars:

The Lemon and Yoghurt bar was crispy and very lemony. The sweetness took away the fact that it was a weightloss product. I really enjoyed it and it did fill me up.

Unfortunately I don’t like peanut butter so I asked my husband to try this nutrition bar:

He said the bar tasted more like liquorice than peanut butter! I certainly don’t hold his taste buds to countenance, however, I did agree that the bar did not taste too nutty.

Both of the bars were very filling and what I liked the most was that I didn’t feel the need to eat the bars in one go. I was able to have half of the lemon crisp bar and nibble on it over lunchtime. They are also perfect for lunch on the go.

I also tried 2 puddings.

Wait for it…. Gooey Chocolate Pudding and Gooey Salted Caramel Pudding.

Now, knowing that these have all the vitamins and minerals that I need and are very low in calories, I was so looking forward to trying these.

You simply add 60ml of cool water to the contents of the packet. For the first pudding I tried, the packet told me to microwave for 90 seconds and monitor it.

It’s quite tricky to know what to look for when it’s your first go but I definitely overcooked it. 90 seconds was far too long and sadly the pudding wasn’t gooey at all. It was just chocolate sponge, which still tasted nice but didn’t have the delicacy of the gooey chocolate centre.

With the second pudding, the guide microwave time was 60 seconds.

Again, I couldn’t get this one right either. I took it out too soon and it was too gooey. I left it in for the recommended 60 seconds and I still don’t think it was what it should have been!

It was however much more moist than the chocolate pudding and had a gorgeous caramel flavour.

Despite my desserts not going right for me, I did look at the Exante Diet website to read the reviews of these. A couple of people say they have an eggy taste but all the rest say that they are just as good as the real thing. The time in the microwave was mentioned so I know I’m not alone here. All it needs is more gooey puddings to practise on!

Every item from Exante Diet can be used, either in conjunction with food as a meal replacement for weight control or used as a total diet replacement, by having 3 products per day (as directed)

Like all diets, it’s important that you maintain an adequate fluid intake daily and their top tip is to try to include 20 minutes of exercise, daily.

I did not use the products as a total diet replacement however I did still lose 4.5 lbs using just the products mentioned which I’m absolutely amazed and delighted with, as it didn’t feel like I was trying hard to be good!

So thank you Exante!

I’m now off to look at your Total Solution recipes… they look delicious.
