Mindful Monday ~ Wk 27

Hello to a shiny, new week.

My Mindful Monday is a quote that I have heard many times.

But now that I am home with my children, every day, the words mean even more.

Things that I used to miss dearly: brushing our teeth together, making lunch and eating together, walking to the shops together, playing on the carpet together, watching tv together, a simple cuddle.

The little things, really are big things.

And for my beautiful gran who passed away very recently, she will never know how much I cherish the time I spent with her. The little visits; the hugs; the chocolate biscuits that she fed my children constantly! Holding her hand; her smile…. these were the littlest things that are the biggest things to me.

The littlest things, really do mean the most.

This week I celebrated my birthday.

It was a week full of birthday love and surprises.

Luke booked a surprise holiday to Center Parcs with our lovely friends, it was amazing.

Thank you so much for all of your cards, pressies and birthday wishes. You are all lovely.

So as I celebrated turning another year older, I turned to this quote to share with you this week:

Happy Bank Holiday and Half Term. I hope you all have a lovely week.

My eyes welled up when I added the text to this photo:

What a gorgeous quote.

I know I will want to protect them always. I can’t imagine how you ever try to ‘let go’.

Fortunately, I don’t have to do that for years and I intend to cherish every one.

When my children are older, more than anything, I want them to look back on their childhood with the happiest of memories.

I want them to remember the time we spent together as a family.

I want them to remember the days out; the trips to the park; the bike rides; the walks in the forest; days at the beach.

The free things.

The simple things.

I want them to remember, simply the time they spent with Mummy and Daddy.

I love this quote by Abigail Van Buren and I think it works brilliantly on a photo of Lola and daddy, going off for a walk.

‘If you want your children to turn out well, spend twice as much time with them and half as much money’

Time is worth more to a child than any gift.

This week’s Mindful Monday thought, comes from my own Blog header:

This weekend it was my father in law’s 70th birthday, so to mark the occasion all of Luke’s side of the family went away for the weekend. Luke has 2 brothers and a sister so all getting together at the same time, with all our children, can prove tricky. The boys loved spending time with their cousins and Lola enjoyed some girlie time with Amelia, Enya and Mia.

So, Happy Birthday, Barry. We hope you had a really, lovely weekend.

Every Family is beautiful, but ours is my favourite.

Have a great week, everyone and give your family an extra squeeze.

Today is an extremely poignant day for our family.

The start of a new life. New careers. New happiness.

So with a deep breathe and holding hands, we are walking through that door to a shiny new future.

And I’m bloomin’ excited!

Have a lovely week.

You know when someone just enters your life and you couldn’t imagine your life without them?

Friends are so incredibly important.

Best friends who I share (almost) everything with, work colleagues who will be friends for life, Blogging friends and hopefully new Mummy friends that I will make when Harley starts school.

This is for all of you:

Sometimes we need to train ourselves or remind ourselves to appreciate the present; be it an emotion, a belief, a sensation, an impulse or a simple thought.

‘Surrender to what is. Let go of what was. Have faith in what will be.’

Have a mindful week, everyone.

The weekend was a tough one; a wonderful Mother’s Day celebrating and cherishing the love of my two little ones and squeezing them a little bit tighter as I felt the heartbreak and grief of losing my beautiful Grandma.

My heart is broken and will be for a while.

But this quote from Winnie the Pooh, says it all:

Night Night, Gran. Sleep well. I miss you so much, already.

I stole this from my Mum’s fridge!

I absolutely love it.

I’m going to use it as inspiration for the running which I have started (which I currently hate every minute of, but hoping to learn to enjoy.)

It’s funny how such a concept can be applied to any age, from my little 1 year old who used to cry because she couldn’t reach her drinks bottle on the table but who can now stand on tiptoes and with the tips of her fingers manage to knock the bottle onto the floor so she can use it; to my step son who for what seems like only yesterday, used to get so frustrated that he couldn’t tie his own shoelace but who persevered and can now do it independently; to me as an adult who is aiming to go from blogging to jogging… And enjoy it!

Have a great week, everyone. If you put your mind to something, you can achieve anything.

My inspirational quote(s) this week is in honour of World Book Day on Thursday.

Dr. Seuss speaks some very wise words indeed, don’t you think?

photo 1 (2)

My personal favourite is Number 4. How very true.

And as it is World Book day this week and the thought of whipping up a book character costume for your little one, brings you out in a cold sweat ( it would me, but fortunately preschool aren’t requesting it!) then take a little peek at my Pinterest Board here for some inspiration.

photo 2 (4)

I love the Stick Man costume (one of our all time favourite books) and Superman is adorable. The Gruffalo is brilliant also if you have little kiddies.

Will you or your children be dressing up for Book Day?

I know some of you follow me on Twitter and Instagram and I have been really touched by all of the well wishes and prayers that you have been saying for my lovely gran, who has been very poorly in hospital this week.

She is the kindest, sweetest, most amazing lady you could ever meet. At 92, her smile still lights up any room.

We are hopeful that she will go home this week, my grandad is a pretty forceful man!

I love you, Gran. xx

Another Monday.

Another start to a working week. Go on, burn that bridge. Move forward and do something to surprise yourself.
